Co-branded Cards

A co-branded card is a type of card that is issued jointly by a financial institution and a retailer. A co-branded debit card retains the features of a regular debit card; however it is endorsed by a bank as well as a retail merchant. These types of cards are considered to be effective business tools as they enable banks to partner with retailers in order to target clients.A credit card purchase for which the merchant has received approval from the bank that issued the customer’s credit card. An authorized transaction can also refer to a transaction that the cardholder has initiated – in other words, it is not a fraudulent or unauthorized transaction. Merchants must authorize each credit card transaction to make sure they will actually get paid for the goods and services they are selling.

Typically a co -branded debit card will have 3 logos on it. These are listed below:

  • The card issuing company logo
  • Brand logo of the card
  • The secondary company logo
